100 civic volunteers to be hired for crowd control at Digha Jagannath temple; State issues notice

The West Bengal government has issued a notification to recruit 100 civic volunteers to manage crowd control and traffic arrangements around the Jagannath temple in Digha. The temple was inaugurated recently on Akshaya Tritiya. The recruitment decision was taken in a state cabinet meeting held earlier under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The state secretariat Nabanna subsequently released the official notification.

The civic volunteers will be posted in and around the temple premises, which have witnessed increased public footfall since the inauguration. According to the notification, application forms can be collected from Digha Police Station and Digha Mohana Police Station. Submission will be accepted every day from 10 AM to 5 PM. The last date for application submission is May 19. It has been clarified that no applications will be accepted beyond the deadline.

Candidates applying for the civic volunteer posts must be at least 20 years old and must have passed a minimum of Class 8. Preference will be given to candidates with NCC (National Cadet Corps), NSS (National Service Scheme), Civil Defence experience, or computer proficiency. Candidates with any criminal background will not be considered for the posts.

The state cabinet has approved recruitment for a total of 114 vacant posts across districts. In addition to Digha, the cabinet has cleared recruitment of civic volunteers for the Singur Trauma Care Centre in Hooghly district. Twelve new paramedical posts have also been sanctioned at the same facility to improve emergency medical services.

Two new legal officer posts have been created for the state Transport Department as part of this recruitment drive. According to district police sources, several applications have already been submitted at both Digha-based police stations since the notice was issued.
